Hi, I'm Liz Jeffries, an experienced therapist providing therapeutic support for anxiety, depression, low-self-esteem and migraine. I also have experience in working with people who are withdrawing from prescribed anxiety and depression medication.

Steps to Therapy is a new kind of therapeutic support, offering resources for self-help as well as online and face-to-face therapy.

If you suffer from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or migraine you may be aware that these difficulties share some characteristics:

  • They may appear early in life for the first time, or in later adulthood.
  • They can appear in different orders and they can move in different directions (so depression may come before migraine, or migraine may come before anxiety, for example)
  • You may or may not have a family history of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or migraine.

  • What these issues also have in common is that all can cause real emotional distress and can lead to difficulties in living life fully. Socialising may become difficult. Getting up to go to work may not be possible. You may even find yourself waiting for the next symptom to appear, knowing that you need to prepare yourself for it.

    The impact of on your life can be significant or it can be minor, and this may affect the type of help you may need. This is where Steps to Therapy can help.

    What Kind of Therapeutic Support Do You Need?

    Do you want to feel better? To find ways not to feel anxious, depressed or in pain?

    Do you want to feel more confident and capable, or more positive about yourself in general?

    Do you want to understand why you have anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or the pain of migraine?

    Do you feel you know and understand about your symptoms but want to change something about yourself or your life?

    These are very different reasons for seeking help and each benefits from a different approach.

    The approaches I offer are described below . You can work through them in order, progressing from one to the next, or you can choose any of the options if you feel that you know clearly what level of support you need.     Choosing Your Form of Help

    There are four kinds of help to choose from.

    The first two are forms of supported self-help and the remaining two are forms of therapy.

    Please select your preferred option in the form which follows and add your details. I will then contact you with full details when your preferred option becomes available.

    If you are unsure which of these 'Steps' is best for you to start with, do contact me and I can help you with this decision.

    Here are the options:

  • You can receive a short ebook which explains the nature of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or migraine and offers some self-help strategies. These ebooks will be FREE and available as follows:

    Low Self-Esteem ebook Available May 2021
    Migraine ebook Available June 2021

  • You can sign up for a course which looks at some of the underlying theories of the main issue for you (anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or migraine) in ways that will be useful to you in understanding and resolving your distress. This will cost £195 and will be available from September 2021
  • If you feel that a short period of therapy may be useful, and you prefer to talk through your difficulties then short-term online (video) therapy may be a good fit for you. This is a block of 6 sessions costing £50 per session or £290 if all sessions are paid for in advance. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. This is Currently Available.
  • Long-term therapy in person provides the opportunity to explore deep-rooted patterns and themes, and focuses on getting to know yourself better and working through enduring difficulties in multiple areas of life. These sessions will take place in Chorlton, South Manchester once the situation with the Coronavirus Pandemic makes it safe enough for us to meet in person. These are also 50-minute sessions and the cost of these sessions is £50 per session on an ongoing basis. This is Not Currently Available
